Northumberland Castles

Northumberland is home to more castles than any other county in England, so why not pay a visit to one or two of our incredible fortresses? Here are a few of our favourite castles which are well worth a visit.

Chillingham Wild Cattle and Castle are just over the hill from us (heading west). Here you can spend the day wandering around the Castle, and taking a tour of the Cattle in glorious surroundings.

Alnwick Castle

Visit the second-largest inhabited castle in the country and explore all this heritage destination has to offer. From inhabiting members of the Gunpowder Plot to being part of the set of the Harry Potter franchise, Alnwick Castle is brimming with rich history and interesting tales.

Bamburgh Castle

Bamburgh Castle is the most incredible, historic backdrop for a truly unmissable walk across the stretching sand dunes of Bamburgh Beach.
